<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">Gidday, my name&#8217;s Damian Kristof and I am in lovely Melbourne. It&#8217;s a beautiful sunny day but one thing we are missing is water. We are in fact in a drought. So with our water supplies currently around 27%, you&#8217;re kinda wondering where is it all going to come from? But the key thing I still know is I  have to drink enough water and so do you. What&#8217;s more important is you need to know what sort of water you are drinking. Is it good quality water or poor quality water? and of course how much water are you supposed to drink? It is all so confusing. Some people say you have to drink 3 litres, some people say 8 glasses, some people say 2 1/2 litres and you go &#8220;What am I supposed to do?&#8221;</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">Well I am going to set the record straight for you. Let&#8217;s have a chat about it. In terms of the quality of water you could drink it couldrange from puddle water to absolutely beautiful pristine environmental water from the artesian springs, and you could choose water from anywhere on that spectrum. My point is or the thing I like to look at, is that you should try and get the best quality water you can get. If you only have access to puddle water then make sure you get enough of that to make sure you are really good. If you have access to artesian spring water then drink heaps of that and make sure you get enough of that to get enough in. I like to drink filtered water because I don&#8217;t like the chlorine or the taste of it and Ihave a sneaking suspicion that chlorine is not good for the human body especially given that it kills bacteria and bacteria is what we need to be healthy. I&#8217;m more inclined to go with the filtered stuff so it takes the chlorine out of it. I just use a filter like this (Brita filter jug available at most Woolworths Supermarkets). I make sure I have that filled and get through a couple of those a day. Now that means I need to know how much water I need to drink. I work on a simple equation and I know this equation works because of some science that was done in the</span> <span style="color: #000000;">Queensland University of Technology some years ago with athletes looking at how much water they get through. What they worked out was most people go through 25-35mls of water per kilo of body weight. So if you weigh 100 kilos you would need to drink  2.5-3.5 litres of water a day. Now that can be a fair bit and daunting for some people but at least you have a formula so instead of using 2 litres for everybody or 8 glasses of water for everybody, you can use a formula with some science behind it- which to me is quite important.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">So how much is 25mls? (Damian holds up a small shot glass that holds 25 mls). You could drink 100 of those if you are 100 kilos. Or this one here (Damian holds up a glass which is 250 mls) some nice clear water. You could drink 10 of those, if you had to drink 2 1/2 litres of water a day. That&#8217;s not too bad. But how do you do that?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #000000;">Well I reckon that you have 2 glasses with every single meal so that&#8217;s 6 glasses, then 2 glasses between meals. If you drink  2 glasses between meals then that&#8217;s your 10 glasses and that&#8217;s pretty easy. That&#8217;s if you&#8217;re 100 kilos, so do the maths on it. It you&#8217;re 50 kilos you do less than that , if you&#8217;re 200 kilos drink more than that. There is the chance you may drink too much water and find yourself going to the toilet quite alot and lose a little bit of nutrition which might be a quite challenging for your body so I highly recommend you don&#8217;t drink too much water but certainly drink enough. I reckon if you&#8217;re not drinking over 4 litres a day you&#8217;re probably doing alright. If you&#8217;re drinking under 1 litre a day you&#8217;re going to be dehydrated so try and work on drinking more and you&#8217;ll feel much better and much brighter. Aim to get your urine nice and clean so that if your urine is clean and nice and clear then you&#8217;re probably drinking enough water. If you&#8217;re having to go to the toilet too much you&#8217;re probably drinking too much water. Use  that as a guide,  a rough guide -25 -35 mls  of water per kilo of body weight. It&#8217;s my formula I use, it works the science says it&#8217;s great so I am going to stick to it and hopefully you do as well.</span></p>

Mike left the regular army as a Chartered Aircraft Engineer, having been the Engineering Officer for a fleet of 30+ aircraft, but that was just his day job that saw him complete tours of duty in Bosnia and Kosovo.  The aspect of the army that he most enjoyed was the adventure training.</span></p>
<p>Whilst in the army Mike led winning ski teams and orienteering teams.  He participated in mountain marathons across the UK, led canoeing expeditions to Austria, Germany and Italy.  He instructed on ski expeditions to Germany and Canada as well as organising mountain training expeditions, climbing trips and trekking expeditions to Thailand, Malaysia, Canada and America.  He’s slept in tents, in the open, in snow holes in Norway, its just part of the adventure.  Since leaving the Army Mike has set up and run a Kick Boxing Academy, been a university lecturer and established his own property business.</p>
<p>You might think that Mike would have no challenges with health and fitness.  Think again, an active lifestyle certainly helps but it does not replace the need for good nutrition and regular exercise.  Health and fitness are two separate goals for Mike; it is possible to be fit but unhealthy.  Dissatisfied with his state of health and growing waistline Mike embarked on a journey of finding solutions.  He decided on three main criteria, the solution would have to be simple enough to do, enjoyable enough that he would actually want to do it and most importantly actually work!  Much reading and study later he qualified as a Personal Trainer.  His solution has seen him transform physically, he is healthier and fitter and as an added bonus managed to shed 15% of his body weight.  In the UK he worked as a Personal Trainer with British Military Fitness.</p>
<p>In emigrating to New Zealand in March 2006 Mike and his wife Kathy are now living their dream.  They are in the country that embodies adventure.  Mike is passionate about GMF, not just for the outstanding results that it will give you, but for the world that fitness and good health opens up to you.  Find your dream and live it with passion!</p>
